There are two completely different products sold under the words “supercar experience in Tokyo”, and they cost about the same. One puts you behind the wheel and requires a licence, an International Driving Permit, a security deposit and an insurance excess. The other puts you in the passenger seat and requires nothing. This page compares every operator we can find, with the real numbers, verified from their own public pricing pages.
The Short Answer
If you want to ride in a Ferrari at Daikoku PA and you are not driving, TOKYO SUPERCAR DRIVE is currently the lowest published price in Tokyo at ¥180,000 per person for three hours, all-inclusive — matched only by our own sister brand STUTUTU CLUB TOKYO, which sells the identical experience at the same ¥180,000. The closest like-for-like alternatives are Niche Drive at ¥190,000 plus 10% tax for 2.5 hours, and Tokyo Supercars at ¥187,000 plus a ¥20,000 passenger supplement for three hours — though the Tokyo Supercars product is self-drive, so it also requires a licence, an International Driving Permit, a ¥100,000 deposit and an insurance excess of up to ¥500,000.

Almost every decision follows from this one question, and a lot of visitors book the wrong thing because the marketing language is similar. A “driving experience” means you drive. A “passenger experience”, “ride-along” or “tour” means someone else drives.

The International Driving Permit point catches more people than any other. Japan only accepts permits issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention. If you hold a licence from Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Monaco, Estonia, Slovenia or Taiwan, your country does not issue one in the form Japan recognises — you need an official Japanese translation from JAF or your embassy instead, arranged in advance. Every year visitors arrive at a rental counter and discover this on the day.

🤝 A disclosure, because it matters. STUTUTU CLUB TOKYO appears in the table above and is operated by the same company as this site, HITE UP Inc. We include it because leaving it out would make this comparison dishonest, and because for some visitors it is the better choice: STUTUTU sells the identical supercar experience at the identical ¥180,000 — same cars, same route, same price — so there is no cheaper or more expensive door. Self-Drive Experiences in Tokyo — and Their Real Cost
Tokyo Supercars is the largest operator in this category and has been running since 2017, with a fleet they advertise as more than 40 cars. If you want to drive, they have by far the most choice in Tokyo and that is a genuine advantage. Their Daikoku Car Meet Driving Experience is a three-hour, 75 km route from Shibuya via Tokyo Tower to Daikoku PA and back through Shibuya Crossing, with roughly 1.5 hours of actual driving and three photo stops.

None of that is unusual or hidden — it is published plainly, and any operator lending a Ferrari to a stranger needs terms like these. But it changes the comparison. A Ferrari 488 for the evening is ¥187,000 if nothing happens, ¥207,000 with a passenger, and your exposure if something does happen runs into six figures. There are also booking constraints: 72 hours’ notice, payment 48 hours ahead, no refund inside 72 hours, and a minimum age of 26.

On this comparison TOKYO SUPERCAR DRIVE is ¥27,000 to ¥29,000 less than the alternatives, for equal or longer time in the car, with no deposit and no excess. That is the honest case for booking with us, and it is the only claim on this page that we would ask you to weigh against everything below.
When Another Operator Is the Better Choice
A comparison that always concludes “choose us” is not a comparison. Here is where we would send you elsewhere.
You actually want to drive
Then this whole category is wrong for you and Tokyo Supercars is the obvious answer — more than 40 cars, since 2017, and a proper booking process for licence checks. Budget the deposit and the excess and enjoy it.
You want a specific tuned car
Niche Drive runs individually specified cars — an R34 GT-R V-Spec II in Z-Tune spec, a 700 hp Ultimate Collection R34, Liberty Walk and Rocket Bunny R35s. If you want that exact car, we do not have it.
You are three or four friends
Our supercars are strict two-seaters, so a group means one car each or consecutive slots. A JDM tour that seats three per car — ours or someone else’s — is better value and more fun together.
Your budget is under ¥100,000
A supercar is not the answer. A JDM night tour to the same Daikoku PA starts around ¥15,000–¥26,000 per person and delivers the same car-culture evening.
One Thing Nobody Advertises: Daikoku PA Closes
Daikoku Parking Area is a public expressway rest area, and Kanagawa police close the entrance ramp when the crowd grows too large — most often on Friday and Saturday nights and around major holidays. Tokyo Supercars states plainly on their booking page that Daikoku typically closes at 8 PM from Friday to Sunday and that no operator can guarantee the turnout of interesting cars. That is accurate and worth repeating.
Any operator promising you a guaranteed Daikoku experience on a Saturday night is promising something outside their control. Ask what the alternative plan is before you book — the usual answers are Umihotaru PA on the Aqua-Line or Tatsumi PA, both genuinely good, and both a very different flavour of evening.
Reading a Tokyo Supercar Price Correctly
Four questions turn a headline number into a real one.
